Bagà is in the large and wide valley of Bastareny River, protected by Cadí range, Penyes Altes (2.260m), La Tosa (2.537m) and Puigllançada (2.406m) . Its extension is 43 sqkm.
The village as it is now was founded in 1233 by Barons de Pinós (Lords of Pinós), as a Frank village, setting up the houses with a regular form at the foot of the castle (Palau).
